Until 2017, the fair in Mancor de la Vall was known as Fira de l'Esclata-Sang, the name coming from the highly prized, blood-bursting mushroom (the blood refers to the mushroom's juice).

It is now known as Biniarrels, Sa Fira de Mancor.

So what happened to the mushroom? It is still very much a feature in that the gastronomic theme of the fair continues to be the esclata-sang, but otherwise there isn't now any specific reference to it.

In 2018, the town hall threatened "appropriate legal action" against an association - Arrels de la Vall - for apparently trying to hold a fair with the traditional name and using the town hall's logo to promote it. There wasn't permission, although this association had in the past organised the fair.

Into the story had come another association, Associació Arrels, and it is this association which now organises the fair - Biniarrels. And to explain ... arrels means roots, and bini, as in for example Binissalem, is Arabic for "son of". The fair is, if you like, son of roots.
