Raquel Lojendio is from Santa Cruz, Tenerife.

She studied soprano at the conservatory in Santa Cruz before studies took her abroad and included a spell at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Her interests weren’t just singing; they included classical ballet. But it is as a soprano that she has forged an international reputation that has seen her perform with the likes of the BBC Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She has performed in numerous operas as well as with orchestras, her extensive discography ranging from Handel to Spanish composers such as Manuel de Falla and to contemporary music.

The range of her repertoire brings her to the Deya International Music Festival at which, accompanied by festival director Alfredo Oyagüez on piano, she will perform a selection under the title of A Film Concert: Music from Hollywood and Broadway. Among others, this will include songs from My Fair Lady (e.g. I Could Have Danced All Night), The Sound of Music and West Side Story.
