Alejandro Astola is one of Spain’s most interesting contemporary flamenco musicians.

From Seville, he hadn’t taken any real interest in flamenco until he started to teach himself guitar when he was twelve (in 2002). The story of Astola and his two school friends - Rafael Ruda and Antonio Manuel Ríos - was then extraordinary. In 2005, they recorded a demo; it was a recording that was an early internet sensation. Two years later, and known as Fondo Flamenco, an album was released that led to a tour of eighty concerts.

They split up in 2014, Astola by now firmly associated with the flamenco underground - fusions with other styles. Last year, they decided to get back together and to go on a tour which they named ‘The Last Appointment’. It may well be the last time they play in Palma. But who can say for certain?
