Olivier Charlier is a French classical violinist who started to attract attention when he was admitted to the Paris Conservatory in 1971 at the age of ten.

Five years later, he earned a Yehudi Menuhin scholarship.

One of the world’s leading violinists, he is no stranger to Mallorca, where he will be soloist with the Mallorca Chamber Orchestra, whose conductor is Bernat Quetglas, one of the island’s brightest young talents, who started his studies in composition and orchestral direction at the Madrid Conservatory in 2011 aged 18.

The programme features Piazzolla’s ‘Four Seasons of Buenos Aires’ and the music to ‘Carmen Suite’, the ballet by Cuban choreographer Alberto Alonso which was composed by Russian Rodion Shchedrin but based on Bizet’s original ‘Carmen’ opera.
