It is practically impossible not to have ever heard their Neil Diamond’s ‘Red red wine’ or their reindition of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t help falling in love’.
More than four decades ago UB40 was born in Birmingham (England), a multiracial band that despite its line-up changes, disputes and the sad loss of some of its members has managed to keep alive a project that’s already a legend. A key piece of the soundtrack of the life of several generations, we will relive their greatest hits live this summer at Es Jardí.
Formed in 1978 by childhood friends and coming from working class families, the group was discovered by Chrissie Hynde, who invited them to open for The Pretenders on their 79-80 tour… and the rest is history. Their fusion of reggae and pop – a rich influence stemming from their members’ Jamaican, English, Welsh, Scottish and Yemeni roots – has resulted in more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart and huge international success, with more than 100 million records sold worldwide.
