As one who was born in India, grew up there and served in the Indian Army , I have to comment on Ray Fleming's maundering about Amritsar.
At that time, India was in a fervour akin to that which caused the Mutiny and had General Dyer not taken those strength steps the country would have slidden back into chaos. Incidentally, serving in India one carried a pamphlet entitled, “Aid to Civil Power,” in which it was laid down that every shot fired was done so to kill, offers with which the General complied.
