TO the officers and governing board of England's Rugby Football Union who presided over a farce in which the job description of the “performance director” of the England team was changed three times in the course of 48 hours -- apparently in a move to discourage Sir Clive Woodward from applying. Woodward was coach of the England side that won the Rugby World Cup in 2003 and has been director of elite performance at the British Olympic Association for five years.
