SPAIN is one of those countries which prides itself on being a member of the European Union. Infact Spanish friends and colleagues often say that they are astounded at Britain´s eurosceptic views. So taking all those into account why does Spain continue to break European law? Spain has been criticised by the European Union for refusing medical treatment to non-Spaniards from European Union countries. I think this breaks every law in the book. I understand that Spanish hospitals are cash strapped but they can´t turn away citizens from European Union countries. Also, the Spanish tax authorities want all people to declare their worldwide assets. This also allegedly breaks European Union law. And then there are our green residence certificates. Why can´t we have Spanish identity cards? The list goes on. Spain should not be allowed to break European Union law and then say how much it likes the Union. Or is that the secret of success? Perhaps Britain should take note?
