British tourism enjoyed a record year in 2010 according to the official annual Travel Trends report; 11.7 million foreign visitors travelled to Britain for a holiday, a slight increase over the previous year, and spent 6.64 billion pounds. London was by far the principal attraction. Spanish visitors totalled 1.8 million, about half the number of those coming from France and Germany. Spain was the most favoured destination for 10.4 million British travellers with France second at 9.1 million.
