A few weeks ago I was contacted by a senior official from a major British advertising agency who loves Majorca both during the summer and winter. He had seen our campaign to promote winter tourism on the island and was willing to give a helping hand for free because he believed that we were right and that there was a demand for low season holidays. He even produced a sample promotional video to encourage British tourists to come to the island over the winter,  which was excellent. But sadly you can´t buy air time on the major British television networks for free and the local ministry for tourism say they have no money for promotion campaigns. So sadly the project is on hold. But I must admit I have been hearten by two things. Firstly, that the boss of a big advertising firm believes that the island could be a popular winter tourism destination and secondly sometimes the best advertising is free. Yesterday, I posted a photograph of Palmanova, taken yesterday and showing a packed beach, on our facebook site. It caused quite a sensation especially with people living in Britain and even further afield. One of Majorca´s best features is its excellent climate and as they say one photograph is worth a thousand words. With bit of imagination Majorca can attract winter tourists. There are few flights and few hotels which are open but small projects can grow and Ithink it is time to start growing Majorca as a winter holiday destination.
