By Jason Moore SO our coalition regional government has kissed and made up and yet another political crisis has allegedly come to an end. I am pleased it is almost nice to have some political stability in the midst of the worst recession Spain has ever seen. But it is evidently clear that the coalition local government has some severe problems which it needs to resolve. I suspect that Balearic leader Francesc Antich has spent the last two weeks trying to keep his coalition stablemates on side; this is not the best way for a Balearic leader to occupy his time in a really bad recession! But there we go. This winter is going to be exceptionally difficult, probably more difficult than the local authorities realise. Now, the local coalition consists of all political parties apart from the centre-right Partido Popular, who won the last elections but only just failed to obtain an overall majority. Perhaps Antich should consider bringing them on side for the good of the Balearics because otherwise I can see more political crisis on the horizon especially as some of the smaller parties (which form the coalition) do not get on. What is needed at the moment is stable government which can take these islands forward. At the moment, it is just one hurdle after another.
