DEAR SIR

AS a frequent visitor to Majorca and being fortunate to own a small house on the island, I have over the years, used a number of car hire companies.
Our booking on 23 September was with a car hire company, whom we have used on several previous occasions. I proceeded to the meeting point in Palma airport and after searching in vain for some time and making further inquires, I was informed that car hire companies were no longer able to meet and greet their clients in the usual meeting point area, but representatives were to wait outside on the concourse.

After taking their shuttle bus to their reception point on the perimeter of the airport, I discussed the situation with a member of staff who informed me that car hire companies who do not have an office in the airport can no longer use the meeting point inside the terminal building. She also said they had been informed that it was illegal to do so. I was disturbed to find out that she had, in fact, been physically removed from the area by security.

I am not sure what has brought on this situation. Perhaps the hire companies in the airport building have ‘got together' to make things difficult for companies that do not have offices inside the terminal building.

This car company has always given a very good service, providing competitive and CLEAN cars, which is more that I can say for some.
As a customer, we have the right to freedom of choice and it seems that there may be a ploy to make things difficult for companies who are not resident in the terminal building, also inconveniencing their clients.

Perhaps you can throw some light on this situation.

We look forward to hearing from you.
Barbara and John Royle
