Dear Sir,
I am writing to you, in response to your up-beat editorial (Sunday, 27 October) which extols the island, and, quite rightly refutes the claim of Dubai to be pre-eminent.
Apart from sand and sun, plus inhospitable desert, Dubai cannot begin to compare with the beauties of Majorca, with its varied scenic Tramuntana mountains, its spectacular palm-fringed beaches, enchanting rocky coves, to say nothing of the great Gothic, iconic cathedral, which bestrides Palma, surely a Capital unmatched for culture, and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
I could fill a book on the Magic of Majorca. Dubai? You can keep it!
I have left to the end, of this panegyric, to compliment you on the front page headlines and picture of the Summer scene we are still enjoying, while dear old Britain is bracing itself to receive, what is described as a “HURRICANE” storm, accompanied by heavy rains and winds similar to those that battered Britain in 1987.
To those who dwell among us, moaning and groaning about life in Spain, I would merely entreat them to count their blessings, and give thanks for having the privilege to live on what can only be regarded as “Paradise”.
Thank you, Mr Moore for your forthright words, that inspired this response.
