Dear Sir, MY family and I have returned from one of our many holidays spent in Puerto de Pollensa. Our apartment was burgled while we were present; documents and property were taken. The robbery was reported to the police where it appeared to be a routine event. It has left us distressed, upset, traumatised. Hours of work had to be spent replacing documents. Please print this letter as a warning to other holiday; I am frightened to add my name and address for publication. The situation is very sad as Puerto de Pollensa is one of our favourite places, but it is not safe. I GREATLY enjoy painting in Majorca and normally use water colours but this time, I decided to bring oil paints. At Liverpool Airport, the security people emptied my hand luggage and told me that I must not carry, or place in my luggage, any tubes of oil paint, as they constitute a fire risk; (I wonder about the creams and sprays in the luggage of some people). Now, I do not mind buying sets of oil paints in Palma, as I have done, but I was surprised by the difficulty and nearly missed my plane as the junior officer went off to consult his senior about the possible condemnation of my tubes of water colours. The louspeakers informed everyone in the airport that our luggage was about to be offloaded!

Dear Editor,
I wonder whether other artists have had this experience?
