FURTHER to the observation of your reader regarding winter tourism, many hotels, I believe, adopt a policy of opening 6 months only because the worker contract dictates so.
More than 6 months and paro payments become ayuda or help and the payment from the government is greatly reduced.
I would be interested to know can the Bulletin confirm this. Also does the Valencian province assist hotels to stay open longer with reduced payments due in the other seasons therefore making it viable to do so.
If this be the case, the root cause for Majorca's tourist zones resembling ghost towns for half a year, could be explained.
