United Airlines say that the Newark-New York to Palma service has been "a resounding success". Demand has exceeded all forecasts since flights started a month ago. Travel agencies in the Balearics point to an "excellent" response to there being direct flights to the US, and this two-way demand will lead to a change in the airline's scheduling for 2023.

These so called wealthy Americans are coming on very cheap 1,000 euros all included packages. Whoever claimed they will be spending over 2,000 euros per day is insane! They are all staying in American chain hotels here, Sheraton, Hilton, etc, who have made huge promotional all inclusive packages. The wealthy Americans come in private jets and rent yachts.
Only one problem customers are finding, the flight is not direct, via Amsterdam! My American friend is departing next week and only hopes it is direct!
