It did not take long and I hope the Balearic Ministry for Tourism is reading carefully. This week, the Belfast Telegraph published a long feature entitled “two wheels in Mallorca: is cycling the new golf?” The features was sparked by the fact that Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins completed his training here on the island and that the entire British cycling team uses Majorca as one of its main training bases.

AN estimated 50'000 cyclists from all over Europe come to Majorca to cycle every year, the article underlines, and claims that the figure is about to explode, especially in the UK and Ireland which have gone cycling crazy in the wake of the Tour de France and the success of British cyclists over the past decade. The article lists cycling routes, hotels, places to eat and recommends Spring and Autumn, low season, as the best times to come.

Any comment Tourism Minister?
