I have just enjoyed another delightful visit to Majorca but have noted for the last year or 18 months the increasing cost of flights and that there are fewer flights, especially in the winter months. One should not therefore be surprised at the drop in visitor numbers from the UK which has been the subject of various comment in your paper.

We have an apartment in Peguera and would come over for weekends more often if the price and frequency was to return to its former availability. Is the blame for this change due to airport tax increases or that airlines just want higher seat occupancy?

We found that the shops and restaurants were generally as busy as ever this year, and that there were more people about till later. Long may Majorca continue to prosper and attract enough custom, just though let us all remind the Island authorities that the whole package needs to be nurtured to continue its success.

Yours truly
