Over 25 years King has conducted some 50'000 interviews, among them presidents, prime ministers and movers and shakers in many other fields. King has never presumed to be an investigative interviewer, preferring to leave his guests to do the talking. In recent years this soft-touch technique has lost favour with viewers who prefer the aggressive questioning on Fox News. The change reflected in his departure can also be seen in other CNN programming.
