......for the management of Tate & Lyle which has become the latest British heritage firm to sell part of its business to an American company. Tate & Lyle's Golden Syrup is one of the oldest brand names in existence and the company dates back to 1859. As recently as May the management identified its food products as the key focus of investment and long-term growth Tell that to the workers at Tate & Lyle's refinery in London's East End who are likely to find themselves out of work very soon.
