RE: QUALITY CONCERTS
WHILST agreeing that Sunday's Simply Red concert, was a sell out success, well worth the price of the ticket - I cannot agree with your statement if you bring quality acts to the island, local residents, and visiting tourists, will support them.
Take for example the Julio Iglesias concert planned for 11th August. As soon as it was announced, I went onto the internet for information regarding the venue and ticket price/when available - to be informed sold out. It will therefore, be interesting to find out, who is there next week!
No doubt some local dignitaries (paid for by whom I wonder?) and a load of so called celebrities here to be seen - but true fans? I doubt it.
Now it seems with some performers, only money matters - but if 500 - 750 euros per ticket for the Palma concert seems excessive - how about Estopa - where the price last week was 1.600 euros (including dinner!)
So yes, quality acts - but at realistic prices - with tickets available to residents and tourists alike - not just celebrities descending to the island, just for the occasions.
