FOR Gary Lineker, the BBC's principal anchor at the London Olympics who seems strangely uninterested in the events he is overseeing and interpreting. Mr Lineker is a BBC “star”, covering soccer (his original specialisation) and golf but he does not give the impression of being deeply knowledgeable about athletic events. After its criticised use of lightweight presenters at the Jubilee Regatta the BBC should have ensured that the 2012 Olympics was in safe hands. There are plenty of candidates, some playing second fiddle to Mr Lineker.
