Last month I wrote an article suggesting that Mallorca would do well to start considering promoting and marketing Mallorca as a destination to enjoy while saving money this winter for Britons and other northern Europeans who are going to be slapped with massive energy bills.
Come, winter in Mallorca
I have touched on this before recently and now it appears that some travel agents are taking it seriously

There's already a fair amount of winter tourism, but it's not British tourism, so it probably isn't that interesting. Generally speaking, Brits are beach resort types and additionally need British stuff to do; fish & chips, Sunday roast, English beer, burger King, English tribute bands, English comedians, and plenty of cheap drink. But winter tourism in Mallorca isn't very beachy or British. Winter isn't a very nice time to be holed up in a 20 sq. meter room overlooking a cold windy beach, with most everything around them shut down. That explains why the rural hotels and villas get booked up in winter. There's golf, cycling, hiking, equestrian sports, sightseeing, and just getting away from the cold up North. The inland villages are all open year round, with plenty of excellent restaurants, bars, festivals and museums and art exhibits, boutique shops, etc. And they're nearer to the things that interest winter tourists. Unfortunately, they overwhelmingly cater to non-British tastes. So perhaps it's better to go to the Canaries or the Caribbean, where you'll find lots of other Brits, British pubs, fish & chips, English beer, burger king, something resembling full English breakfasts and Sunday roasts. And plenty of brown sauce to smother it in.
