Returning to Majorca after an absence of 37 years is the beautiful sailing yacht Zaca once owned by Errol Flynn and moored for many years at the Real Club Nautico. The Zaca has been competing in the Count of Barcelona sailing Trophy. In 1950 Errol Flynn sailed into Palma aboard this yacht with his wife Patricia Wymore on their honeymoon. Errol Flynn fell in love with Majorca and frequently returned to the island and stayed aboard his sailing yacht. In those days Palma's nightlife was centred around the Plaza Gomilla and Flynn often joined up with the likes of Ava Gardner at the trendy Monaco bar. The Zaca was built at the Nunes boat yard in Sausalito, California. Initially it was built for ocean research and survey work. During this time the Zaca twice sailed around the world. During the Second World War she was requisitioned by the U.S. Navy and armed with two short-range weapons she became part of the U.S. Coastguard. After the war she was purchased by Errol Flynn who sailed her to Palma. The Zaca was also used in the filming of a Hollywood movie. She played a key role in Flynn's life until his death in 1959. She remained at her moorings in Palma until 1963, a year in which she was moved to the South of France.
