Calvià local police and the deputy mayor, Manel Suarez, said yesterday that this summer has been much calmer than last season in Calvià. One of the biggest breakthroughs for the local police has been to bring an end to the organised Pub Crawls by stopping the coaches full of tourists from entering the key resorts. Last summer the organised Pub Crawls created a great deal of tension in the Magalluf area with bar owners angry they were losing customers because of the noise and residents because so many people were being bussed into the area in their masses. This summer has seen the Local police working in close co-operation with the Guardia Civil and the local authorities in order to maintain order and security in Calvia, which is one of the largest tourist resorts in Europe. The population also ballooned by an extra 250'000 people this summer, which in itself created more work.
A much calmer summer season for Calvià
