The Balearics is just one of only two autonomous regions in Spain where the number of new car sales rose last month. Just over 16 per cent of 117'775 new cars sold in Spain last month were registered in Madrid and in the Balearics the figure was slightly more than four per cent. Since the start of this year, the Balearics has accounted for five per cent of the new 210.507 cars on the road in Spain. New car sales in the rest of the autonomous regions are down on February last year and overall the 210.507 vehicles sold since the start of the year, represent a 3.6 per cent decrease in comparison to the first two months of 2000.
