TODAY is the Balearics' big day at the ITB Berlin travel fair and is expected to be the star attraction with supermodel/actress Claudia Schiffer appearing on the Balearic stand early this afternoon.

Schiffer, a huge fan of the island who owns a luxury home here and has been spending her summers in Majorca with her family since she was 12, will be presenting this year's Mallorca Golf Classic in the company of the Balearic President, Jaume Matas.

The Balearic day celebrations start at mid-day with a cocktail party with traditional Minorcan products on the menu.
This will be followed by a press conference given by Matas after which Schiffer will take the stage to promote the golf tournament.
The supermodel, a keen golfer who has learnt to play over the past few summers in Majorca, is also expected to address the guests and press.
Schiffer is also due to appear at the Balearic Stand during the World Travel market in London in November.
Over the past few days since the fair started on Friday, interest in the Balearic stand, which this year also includes an area for local businesses, has been significant.

On Sunday, the “green card” was presented and was welcomed by the German tourist industry.
Visitors purchasing the card will be entitled to discounts at various attractions and places of interest with money raised being used to help protect the region's patrimony and environment.
