THE Municipal Bus Company, EMT, has announced that two bus routes will be changed from next Tuesday, because of the traffic problems on calle Union.
Bus routes 4 and 17, that run between Genova and Port of San Antonio and Can Pastilla to Plaza de la Reina respectively, will no longer pass through calle Union in the centre of Palma.
At present building works are being carried out at the Main Theatre on calle Union and as a result there are many traffic jams. Changing the bus routes will hopefully ease the traffic problems, said a spokesperson from the Palma City Council.
With these changes, the number 4 bus route will no longer enter the city via Via Roma and las Ramblas, but will instead pass along Avenida Portugal and calle Ramon y Cajal.
The bus stops going into the city will be at no. 14 calle Comte Sallent, los institutos, Plaza Forti, no. 14 calle Ramon y Cajal and no. 24 calle de Comte de Barcelona, and return journey bus stops will be at no.7 calle Caro, Paseo de Mallorca, los institutos and no.3 Avenida Alemania.
In addition, on going into the city, the bus route 17 will not be driving between Plaza de la Reina up to Avenida Alemania, and on the return, the route will not be using the roads between Avenida Comte Sallent and Plaza de la Reina.
