Conservation plan

SANTA MARGALIDA
THE spokesperson for the socialist party (PSOE) in the Council of Majorca, Toni Alorda, and the spokesperson for the socialist party (PSM) in the Santa Margalida town council, Toni Reus, yesterday visited the Son Real necropolis. Their aim is to demand that this archaeological site is placed in a conservation plan.

New building

ANDRATX
THE Mayor of Andratx, Eugenio Hidalgo, has announced that the Minstry for Health has chosen one of the three options available to move the municipal health centre. In this way the health centre will be moved to a 400 square metre building which dates back to 1926. This building's car park is currently being used by the municipal fire brigade.

Works finished

ALCUDIA
THE resurfacing works to the main streets in the sa Torreta district have been completed on time and before the start of the main tourist season. The roads were re-opened yesterday afternoon after those reponsible for the project worked against the clock in the last couple of days. In this way the Alcudia town council has fulfilled the promise to complete these works before 1 May. There is a regulation on the islands that states no construction works should be carried out in tourist resorts after 1 May. In addition the sewerage and resurfacing works in Es Barcares district were also finished last week. Yesterday the sewerage plant was finished and during this week a few tests will be carried out before the plant is up and running.

Dog fouling fines

CAPDEPERA
THE town council have agreed to impose fines between 30 to 3'000 euros on people who litter public roads. In this way if residents are caught allowing their dog to foul the pavements then they will be stung for a fine of 300 euros. The Mayor, Joan Ferrer said that “the aim of this ruling is to make people more aware of the need to keep the region clean”. The ruling establishes a series of impositions. It is forbidden to allow water to fall onto the road below when watering plants and cars cannot be washed on a public road.

First morgue

SENCELLES
THE Sencelles town council has approved the construction of a new morgue next to the cemetery. The budget for this project is approximately 60'000 euros, which will be financed by the Plan for Works and Services in the Council of Majorca and by the Sencelles town council. According to a spokesperson from the town council, this new morgue will be finished at the start of 2007.
