News Desk MORE bottled water is drunk by residents in the Balearic Islands than in any other Spanish region, followed by Murcia and Catalonia. People living in Navarra, the Basque Country and above all in Madrid drink the least amount of bottled water, according to a report released yesterday.


During the last few years sales of bottled water in Spain have been on the increase, with yearly rises of up to 13 percent in production.
The average person in the Balearic Islands drinks 63.4 litres of bottled water per year. According to the information which was supplied by the Ministry of Agriculture, 68 per cent of the bottled water is consumed in homes and 31 percent in restaurants and hotels.
