TEN people have been arrested on Majorca as the result of an anti drugs operation by the National Police in which seven kilos of cocaine were seized.
According to the Spanish Government's representative to the Balearics, Ramon Socias, initially, two suitcases containing six kilos of cocaine were seized, but another kilo and 135'000 euros in cash were found in the home of one of the suspects.

Socias said this operation is “more proof of the effectiveness of the controls” made by the State Security Forces on the Balearics. “We are keeping a very tight control over this, trying to stop the trafficking of drugs and also of people, so that the Balearics will not become a gateway for drugs to enter Spain or Europe”, he said.

Socias was speaking at Son Reus, where 3'150 kilos of cannabis resin was destroyed in the incinerator yesterday.
He said that this was the haul seized in a Police operation in Sant Josep de Sa Talaia (Ibiza). So far this year some 15 tons of hashish has been seized in various operations, and also nearly 15 kilos of cocaine, said Socias.
