Newsdesk A British tourist, her mother and her companion have been arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, after a new-born baby was found dead in the bathroom of her hotel room.

They have been named as Vanessa H, aged 41, her mother Shirley Isobel H, 73, and her companion Jonathan C, 36. They were staying at a hotel in the Port of Pollensa.

According to Guardia Civil sources, the woman told officers she had had a miscarriage when she was having a bath, and said that she had not been aware that she was pregnant.

The Guardia Civil were informed of the birth and when they arrived, they found the baby's body in the bath.
The family reportedly told them that a doctor had attended the baby, but was unable to do anything for it.
Officers said that the baby weighed two kilos, which indicated that it was in the seventh month of gestation.
An autopsy will be performed on the baby today, to determine the exact cause of death.
Vanessa H was taken to hospital for treatment, although she did not have to be admitted.
All three Britons appeared in the court in Inca at 5pm yesterday.
Vanessa H arrived in an unmarked Guardia Civil car, while her mother and husband went to court on foot, accompanied by a lawyer. They were released with charges.
