ANDRATX
THE Balearic Port Authority has installed nearly 1'000 new moorings in the ports and marinas it manages over the past few months.
Yesterday, the Balearic Minister for the Environment, Miguel Angel Grimalt, visited the Port of Andratx where a series of new pontoons and moorings have recently been installed.

Grimalt explained that the primary aim of the new berths is to reduce the number of cases of illegal moorings which has caused substantial damage to marine fauna and fauna in a number parts of the region over recent years.

He added that while the government opposes the construction of new marinas and major expansion projects, “a sustainable and controlled increase in the number of moorings is going to be carried out in order to meet the annual rise in demand and help the nautical industry continue to grow.”
