With the environment in mind, the town council in Arta has taken a series of important steps to improve rubbish collection and waste management in the municipality. The move comes in response to complaints from residents .
At the last full plenary session of the Council, a proposal by the National Socialist party (PSOE), currently in opposition, was approved, obliging the council to improve the terms and conditions of waste collection for which residents pay tax.
Environment Councillor Guillem Caldentey said that he was aware of the level of complaints. He said the company carrying out waste collection for the council should be made to abide strictly by the terms of its contract.
He confirmed that a public information scheme is being launched in Colonia de Sant Pere to make people aware of correct recycling procedures.
