l Palma's municipal bus company has lost 2'888'887 customers over the first seven months of the year compared to the same period in 2011, company managing director Juan Iglesias claimed yesterday. He said that the cumulative number of passengers from January to the end of July is 25'716'894, 11.23% less than last year. Iglesias said that nearly half of the customers EMT has lost during this time were people (mostly under 16 year-olds) who previously were able to travel free of charge but when fares were revised, they ceased to use the buses. But Iglesias said that despite the downturn, the amount of money collected from fare paying clients has risen by 12.53% during the period.
