By Frank Leavers Calvia.—Mallorca Cricket Club have announced that they have completed discussions with Globo Balear Entertainment, and the Majorca based entertainment group will become the major sponsor and event partner at this year's Bonfire Night Fiesta.

This year's Bonfire Night at the Cricket Club will take place on Saturday 3rd November, and with less than a month to go to the big day detailed plans are in hand to make this iconic family and community event the best and biggest ever.

At the first Bonfire Night that Mallorca Cricket Club organized fifteen years ago fifty club members and friends gathered together at the clubhouse for a small celebration. Fast forward in time and this wonderful community event now attracts more than 3'000 people making it arguably the largest British ex-pat community event in Spain. Globo Balear will be assisting the Cricket Club in further developing Bonfire Night and to ensure its long term future. Mallorca Cricket Club Chairman Paul Heaton commented on the partnership….. “I am very pleased that the Cricket Club and Globo Balear have reached this exciting agreement. We are a small club, and as Bonfire Night has grown it was becoming clear that our limited resources were becoming very stretched as we strived to deliver a memorable night for families across the island. In our discussions with the team at Globo Balear it became obvious to us that not only did they understand the community nature of this great event, but could help us deliver it to an even better standard than ever before.” As always, Bonfire Night is held with the kind permission and the active support and assistance of Calvia Council.
Bonfire Night this year will take place on Saturday 3rd November just a couple of days shy of the actual “night”. The reason behind this decision is that families with children of school age can enjoy the whole evening without a thought of school or work the next morning.

A number of new features for Bonfire Night are already under discussion, but one essential element will stay the same; Guy Fawkes Night at the Cricket Club will still retain its “family friendly” entrance fee………. and prices for food and drink, will as always, be very reasonably priced. Globo Balear CEO Catherine Sasson observed of this new partnership. “We at Globo Balear Entertainment are so pleased that we have come to this arrangement with Mallorca Cricket Club. Bonfire Night at the cricket Club is one of those magical events that most of us have attended with our children, family and friends. I completely understand the fact that Bonfire Night is for the “community,” and it has been with this in mind that we have reached agreement with Mallorca Cricket Club. However, make no mistake, this is the Cricket Club's event but we know that we can help make this iconic traditional event even better.” Look out for regular Bonfire Night “updates” in the Bulletin in the next few weeks that will keep you up-to-date with all the activity and entertainment that will be part of this year's Bonfire Night Fiesta of fun.
