PALMA police seized more than 250 weapons and arrested five people in an operation which took place in Palma and on the mainland.
Among the five people who were detained was the owner of a popular army surplus store in Palma and a gunsmith whose job it was to repair and up-date the weapons, some of which date from the Second World War. Police said that the majority of the weapons were in a first rate condition and in most cases could be fired.

The five people were being questioned by police yesterday and they are expected to appear in court over the next few days.
