Palma de Majorca.—Borrego has a degree in Law from the Balearic University and has a Masters degree in Construction Law and the Property Sector, the Ministry for Industry, Energy and Tourism confirmed yesterday. Borrego has worked with the Balearic Housing Institute and from 2005 to 2007, she was Director of Architecture and Housing for the Balearic government.

Her appointment has been applauded by the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (CEAVyT) for her expert knowledge of property and planning law. The Confederation's Vice President Rafael Gallego said that the previous Secretary of State for Tourism, Joan Mesquida, a Majorcan, did not have a background in Tourism so it was no handicap that Borrego comes to the ministry from the property sector.

Delegate
Meanwhile, José María Rodríguez Barberá has been named as the new Central Government delegate in the Balearics. Rodríguez is a former regional Senator.
