Palma.—Last night was the moment hundreds of thousands of children had been waiting for across the Balearics all year - the arrival of the Three Kings which meant they would finally get their hands on their presents.

Some children would have enjoyed a visit from Santa Claus, but the majority still post their wish list to the Three Kings and last night, after the Three Kings visited cities, towns and villages across the region, children were busy tearing the wrapping paper off their presents to see if their wishes had come true.

In Palma, the main event, the Three Kings sailed in to the old port on board a Turkish galleon called Alania, in front of la Llonja at 5.30pm to be met by a cheering and excited crowd of thousands. They then toured the city before coming to a halt outside the Town Hall where they then appeared on the balcony to greet the packed crowd just before 8.30pm.

Some six tonnes of sweets were given out during the parade in which over 500 people have been involved in this year. With a slightly bigger budget than last year of over 230'000 euros, the parade was in turn larger and more livelier with more floats.

Elsewhere across the island, the Kings arrived by various means of transport to make the dreams of thousands of children come true.
