PALMA
ONE of Europe's largest and most important Spanish travel trade fairs, Fitur, opens in Madrid this morning and the Balearics is going to be making a major effort to promote a diverse range of tourism activities and attractions in a bid to boost holiday bookings for this year in all markets.

The new promotional TV advert and campaign using the Balearics's new ambassador for tourism, world number one tennis player Rafael Nadal, is going to be unveiled to the Spanish media and the annual Surf Action extreme sports competition is also going to be given blanket advertising. However, on Thursday a landmark agreement to promote the Balearic nautical tourism industry is going to be signed between the Balearic Ministry for Tourism and the Spanish Tourist Board, Turespaña. The Balearic government and Ministry for Tourism has recently realised the full value and importance of the region's nautical tourism industry and its global attraction hence a major push is going to be made this year to help the sector expand. ¡
