Police arrest mysterybalcony attacker

FAMILY Social Services personnel have arrested a man accused of apparently trying to throw a woman off a second floor balcony in Calle General Riera in Palma last Thursday.

A statement issued yesterday by Police headquarters said that the man, Luis M.M., was arrested at 10pm Friday night and was in police custody.
Security forces had been alerted to the attempted crime by witnesses who had reported the struggle on the balcony in which the victim had clung tenaciously to railings foiling her aggressor's attempts to throw her into the street. On realising the police had been informed, the would-be criminal fled the scene on a bicycle. The victim, however, told police her aggressor “was not her partner” but rather “the boyfriend of someone who was sleeping in her house.”
