THE international market is “looking good” this year for the Balearic jewellery and accessories manufacturing industries despite the restrictions of the economic crisis, regional Commerce Minister Francesca Vives said yesterday at a trade fair in Madrid.

Vives, accompanied by Antonia Alles of the Council of Minorca was attending the third “Eurobijoux Collection” at which 27 exhibitors have stands. Alles said it was important that the Balearic government gave its backing - financially and otherwise - to the presence of Balearic jewellery and accessories companies at international trade fairs to boost chances of commercial recovery.

Contact with new potential clients is key to the expansion of this market, said Vives, adding that new designs which guarantee quality need to compete internationally.
