THE Guardia Civil has smashed a gang smuggling cocaine into Majorca by mail, in packages posted in Madrid, for later distribution on the island. The gang was made up of nine people, all of whom have now been detained. According to the Guardia Civil, their Organised Crime and Antidrugs team (EDOA) started their investigations last October. After making enquiries, they found out that an organisation was importing cocaine and distributing it for sale. After finding out that one of these packages would arrive on Majorca on February 9, officers were deployed in Llucmajor, Calvia and Palma.
They arrested one of the gang with three kilos of cocaine on him. The others were arrested later in Llucmajor.
