PALMA
THE Jazz Voyeur Festival is coming up for its 5th edition with an ambitious programme. “We have a great festival planned, the best in our five years”. In addition to extending the festival to 10 concerts, it will be complemented with films, conferences and a photographic exhibition.

The season, which embraces a wide variety of styles represented by some of their best exponents, will also have various co productions in the Mediterranean Nights in the Costa Nord in Valldemossa, “although there is still nothing concrete, we are in negotiations with other artistes”, said Roberto Menendez, director and producer of the festival.

The Jazz Voyeur Festival, which has the collaboration of Ibatur, is trying to install itself (like other festivals on the islands) as a “tourist product package” from its next edition, said Antoni Oliver, head of the Tourist Strategy Institute (INESTUR). He explained that the Scenic Arts project is trying to encourage cultural tourism via the promotion, in this case, of some of the best festivals on the islands, such as the Jazz Voyeur.

With a view to this, they have started negotiations with the Hoteliers Federation, travel agents and airlines.
The Festival has a budget of 390'000 euros, 140'000 given by IBATUR, which allows them to lower the price of the tickets (between 25 and 50 euros).
One of the parallel activities to the festival is the cycle of films and jazz, dedicated to the author, director and actor Clint Eastwood. “Nothing has been settled, but Eastwood could come to Palma, as we have asked him to be the sponsor of this edition of the Festival”, said Gerardo Cañellas, of the Jazz Voyeur Festival.

He confirmed that they are maintaining links with other festivals in the country because it allows them to access other artistes, such as Bebo Valdes, who is taking part in what could be his last tour.

In spite of the fact that the festival is considered “moderate” by its organisers, it offers almost a whole year of concerts in different places, making sure the place and climate is the most appropriate for each artiste.
