THE Balearic Ministry for Tourism is going to be launching a campaign to attract domestic tourists in May.
Last year the domestic market took a down turn and accounted for just seven percent of the region's total market however, the Balearics is going to be holding a series of so called “fam trips” or familiarisation trips for travel agents from mainland Spain.

The Balearics largest market last year was Cataluña but the Ministry for Tourism wants to increase its presence in other regions, in particular those in Northern Spain where the summer weather is unpredictable and most of the regional airports have regular air links to the islands, in particular Majorca.

The “fam trips” will include tours of the island, work shops and special presentations of the region's food, wine and culture.
