THE Centro Canino animal refuge will be closed on Monday by the city council after months of protest.
Yesterday it was revealed that a Council of Majorca-run refuge has agreed to take the remaining animals from the Centro when the city council enforce the closure order. 15 animals have been adopted over the last few weeks.

The Centro Canino had not wanted to send the animals to the municipal pound at Son Reus because they feared that they would be sacrificed. However, the Council of Majorca has come to the rescue promising to take the animals and keep them at their refuge until good homes can be found for them.

The Centro Canino is being closed down because its paperwork is allegedly not in order. Volunteers at the centre have been actively campaigning against the closure order.
