Newsdesk PALMA's citizens are now using the Tourist Information Offices in the city more than many visitors. In 2006 the offices dealt with a total of 23'723 enquiries by residents in the city, a great deal more than those made by Italian visitors (although these increased by 20 percent), and around the same number of enquiries made by French tourists.

According to the director of the Municipal Institute for Tourism (Imtur), Francisco Martinez, last year there was an increase of nine percent in the number of enquiries dealt with by the three Tourist Information Offices situated in the city, the virtual office and the mobile information points.

This, he said, will condition the future development of the service, up to now aimed at visitors.
