PALMA
MAJORCAN football club “RCD Mallorca” has presented a proposal to Palma City Council for the reconstruction of the Lluis Sitjar stadium on the site of the old one, the club's President Jaume Cladera confirmed yesterday.

The replacement building, said club sources, would have a capacity of between 25'000 and 30'000 spectators. It would reportedly take the place of the current Son Moix stadium which is to undergo a major restructuring programme to convert it into a multi-purpose sports complex embracing 7 football pitches, tennis and padel (racket game) courts and golf practice areas.

The President said that the proposal is entitled “Lluis Sitjar, the new heart of Majorca” and were it to be accepted, would immediately create jobs for 2'500 people.

The scheme, said Cladera, comes in response to club supporters who want to see RCD Mallorca back in the stadium which had been “its home.”
