Palma.—Members of the opposition PSOE Socialists on Calvia Council said yesterday that the party had no choice but to lodge the complaints about allegedly irregular hiring of staff at Radio Calvia between 2005 and 2011 when Carlos Delgado was Mayor. Other allegation of bribery, misappropriation of public funds, abuse of public favours of prevarication have also been lodged.

So far, no arrests have been made but the Guardia Civil , which stormed Calvia Town Hall confiscating boxes of documents, have been urged to step up their investigation to prevent any potential evidence from being destroyed.

Delgado was getting married at the time and yesterday jetted off to the Moscow Tourism Fair. However, the judge presiding over the investigation has advised him, the current Mayor Manuel Onieva and various others, including former and acting press officers and Calvia Radio station managers, to seek legal representation should the judge decide to call them to be questioned.

The case continues.
