Palma.—The Balearic Minister for Public Administration, Simon Gornes, said yesterday that by offering civil servants the opportunity to work less or more flexible hours in exchange for a pay cut will enable some to enjoy their family life more.

News of the cuts was broken on Monday and yesterday Gornes claimed it will enable civil servants to adapt their working day to their family life.
Not a bad idea
Gornes said yesterday that the decision was not his but the Office for Budgetary Control, but he does not consider it a bad idea in view of the cuts the local government has to make in order to reach its deficit target by the end of the year.

The government is also planning a complete shake up of how the administration works in order to save even further public spending.
